Burnout can feel all consuming. We become so stressed and worn down that it feels like we have a mountain to climb with no energy to start. While it can feel overwhelming, it is not insurmountable.

At burnout prevention therapy we specialize in treating burnout and preventing it from getting further out of hand. We do this by slowing the process down and identifying what is contributing to your burnout. While this often includes work, it can also be things like depression, anxiety, and other stresses. All these issues tend to exacerbate each other, leading to that insurmountable feeling. By slowing it down and handling one issue at a time, we make the process of getting back to yourself feel doable again.

Should I Just Quit My Job?

This is a common question with feelings of burnout and one we are not shy exploring. Sometimes the answer is yes and we can help you arrive at that decision and find an alternative that you feel confident in. However, the answer is also often no. Even when our job is the main contributor to the burnout we are feeling there are often ways that we can change our approach to work, either in behavior or thought, which can make work more tolerable. We identify practices that will reduce the feelings of distress you are feeling. This can help to give us a moment’s peace to better determine if there are practices we can implement to make the role feel right for us, or provide relief and a level head while making new plans. The right answer is different for everyone and we won’t push you one way or the other, but help you determine what is right for you.
